The Developments And Learning I Experienced During Buxton...

The objective of writing this reflective essay is to assess the developments and learning I experienced during Buxton residential; pertaining to working as a group and individually with a view of improving my shortcomings. I was assessed and given feedback by the supervisor in the areas I was not performing better and guided throughout the residential to accomplish better individually as well as in a group. I am reviewing the work I performed in the group under the current research and methods to present the learning I gained from the feedback and guidance provided by the supervisors. However, this essay will mainly focus on five main points which are team working, leadership,†¦show more content†¦(Tuckman, 1965, pp 396) In the last activities I performed, I did my part for the team and did efforts for the team as a whole, not completely for personal achievement. I did understand the point of working as a team not as an individual working separately than the team working as one. (Tuckman, 1965, pp 396) Leadership: I was given the opportunity to lead in single activity which required to guide the team members based on communication. I did planned and guided my members and explain them how we will work in that activity according to my mindset and priorities. The problem I experienced was that regardless of the understanding between group members, I was still not able to guide my colleagues to perform as I expected. The main reason for me not delivering what I expected was that I didn’t accounted for other member’s thoughts and priorities. (Beth Charles, 2011, pp 463) In some of the other activities, I was working as a member however, I have to take control of the situation as I built a general understanding of the group work and do take leadership role in the group whenever required. (Belbin, 2010, pp 65)(Henny, 2008, pp501) Communication Skills: For me at the first it was a disaster in terms of performing in the team.
